Working with Fractions

This course is composed of three sessions, providing a quick review of fractions. We will cover types of fractions, equivalent fractions, addition and subtraction of fractions, multiplication and division of fractions and word problems involving fractions. This course will increase your confidence in working with fractions every day as well as help you prepare for further academic upgrading, including GED, if desired.

Decimals

This course is composed of three sessions, providing a review of decimal numbers. We will cover place value and relative size of decimal numbers, as well as addition, subtraction and multiplications of decimal numbers. We will also briefly cover long division of whole numbers, which may or may not result in a decimal number for the answer. This course will increase your confidence in working with decimals every day and will also provide a basic review of completing number operations by hand. It will help you prepare for further academic upgrading or work towards you GED requirements.

Prerequisites: a working knowledge of multiplication tables from 1X1 to 10X10.

Recommended but not required: a simple calculator or calculator app on your phone to check your calculations.

Integers, including Decimals and Fractions

This course is composed of three sessions, providing a review of operations with positive and negative integers, using the number line as an introduction. Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of signed integers will be covered, as well as operations with signed decimals and signed fractions. This course will increase your confidence in working with integers and signed numbers and help you prepare for further academic upgrading or work towards your GED requirements.

Prerequisites: Working with Fractions course and Dealing with Decimals course or equivalent mathematical skills/understanding.

Required: A simple calculator or calculator app on your phone to use in class.

Ratios, Rates and Percent

This course is composed of three sessions, providing a review of ratios, rates and percents. Concepts related to rations, rates and percents will be introduced and you will work at solving application problems. Ratios, rates and percents come up frequently in everyday situations, so this course will be helpful to increase your practical skills at math. It is also a course intended to help you prepare for further academic upgrading or work towards your GED requirements.

Prerequisites: Working with Fractions course and Dealing with Decimals course or equivalent mathematical skills/understanding.

Required: A simple calculator or calculator app on your phone to use in class.
